Do you like oriental flavors and love the aroma of marzipan and almonds? Then our allerFeinst! stone cherry powder will be just the thing for you.

Stone cherries, also known as mahaleb , are the ground seeds of the rock cherry (or sour cherry). This tree, which grows 4 to 6 meters high and can also be found as a multi-stemmed shrub, grows from Morocco to Spain and France. This deep-rooted tree has also been found in eastern Austria and Hungary since at least the 19th century. In the past, however, it was mainly cultivated for its wood, although the ground seeds of the fruit make an important spice, e.g. in the Orient.

How about a fine spice cake or a Greek yeast plait (Easter cake / tsoureki) or kandil simidi (sesame rings seasoned with mahleb). It is also indispensable in vasilo pita (Greek fortune cake) and ma'amoul (Arabic semolina pastry) and is used in pudding and rice pudding.
