Quick mashed potatoes for 2 people
Ingredients:
-
approx. 500 g potatoes (floury)
-
2 heaped teaspoons of salt
-
2 tbsp butter (preferably generous flakes)
-
approx. 200 ml milk (alternatively: cream)
-
nutmeg, freshly grated
Preparation:
-
Prepare the potatoes:
Peel the potatoes, cut into large pieces and place in a saucepan. Cover with water (no more - just cover). Add salt - please do not add too sparingly, as salt brings out the flavor! -
Boil:
Boil the potatoes for about 20-30 minutes until soft. Then drain and return to the pot. -
Mash:
Add butter in thick flakes, add a good dash of milk (or cream). Mash thoroughly with a potato masher (not a hand blender!) until the desired consistency is achieved. -
Season to taste:
Finish with freshly grated nutmeg and season again with salt if required. -
Serve:
We enjoy it today with black salsify (lightly spiced with vanilla) and crispy fish sticks. Simple, delicious, homemade!
Tip:
Mashed potatoes work best with floury potatoes. For extra creaminess: add a little more butter or a dash of cream!
